Behind the beach section is a rain forest that rises up 200 meters. Two fresh water brooks run all year round. This is a primary rain forest, in contrast to the secondary forest which does not contain such rich animal and plant life.
On all sides (up to the beach section) the property borders on the national park Austria, also named Piedras Blancas. It is now associated with the national park Corcovado. This guarantees that the neighboring property will never be cleared.
Just three kilometers away is the Rio Esquinas which flows into the Gulf. There are many birds, small caimen and always some green iguanas who like to swim in the river. In the river delta there are many mangroves. Many people love this area because of its rich animal and plant life.
The property was earlier an old cocoa farm.
