... installations for raising goats, sheep, llamas, poultry, fish ponds, and we have made great efforts to collect and grow a wealth and variety of natural and organic seeds, fruit trees, foods and medicinal plants, to meet all our community's needs. → The farm is ideal for continuing on as a Self-Sustainable Community Living Project, as a vacation farm or as a centre for Ecological Tourism, due to it's magnificent view out over the vast Amazonian basin and its winding jungle paths that eventually arrive to the crystalline waters of the River Chakiska, teeming with native fish, butterflies, animals and plants. - Price: $115,000 USD - 26 hectares - AMAZING VIEW out over the Amazon basin - 1/2 hour drive from the town of Loreto - Paved access to the farm for vehicles off the Coca-Tena road - 900 MAMSL, climate is warm and tropical with a refreshing breeze - No problems here with mosquitoes - Ecological constructions: 3 houses and 1 cabin, 1 stable - Installations for raising sheep, llamas, goats and Poultry - 5 main and 7 minor fish ponds for cachama, sábalo, bocachico, tilapia, etc - 4 hectares pasture land - Managed with permaculture - Terraced cultivation areas to conserve fertility of soil - Climate and elevation help for variety, from apples to bananas - Over half of farm left as amazonian forest reserve to protect species - The Chakiska river, 8 streams and 2 natural springs on the land → Area: The farm is 26 hectares in size. → Climate: Our farm is located at 900 metres above sea level, in the foothills surrounding the Amazonian basin. It's climate is warm and tropical usually with a refreshing breeze thanks to its height, which makes it cooler than lower Amazonian regions. We have no problems here with mosquitoes. The the dry season is July to January, the rest of the year is rainy on and off. During the course of the year, the temperature generally varies between 14°C and 20 °C and rarely goes below 8 °C or above 24°C. → Housing: The living area is located around the farm's entrance, with 3 houses and a cabin, separated by distances of between 20 to 80 metres, and surrounded by terraces that we have laboriously hand-built over the years for growing vegetables, fruit trees, and medicinal plants. - At the end of a winding path through the jungle, a camping area is found next to the Chakiska River, also surrounded by terraces for cultivations, crops and fruit trees. This zone has various flat areas ideal for growing food and/or camping. → Economy: For ecological tourism, Pasohurco is well known for its amazing views out over the jungle and our farm has ecological paths throughout that visitors can enjoy. There is easy access to the main living area and for those who are seeking some adventure and a weekend deep in the jungle, there is the camping zone next to the Chakiska River, which also has waterfalls and a lot to explore. - The goats, llamas and sheep are an exclusive and highly valued product in the area and sell easily, as well as natural medicines produced on the farm such as tinctures and other herbal remedies. - The diversity of plants and seeds that our land yields, both native and species introduced by us, and the easy access to the front area of the farm via the Coca-Tena road, would also make feasible the creation of a garden centre or nursery. → Privacy: While a small part of the front area of the farm borders with the Coca-Tena road, we have positioned the houses in the main living area carefully to secure our privacy. The middle area and back area of the farm, where the camping zone is found, stretch out into the Amazonian forest. → Farm Animals: For breeding goats, african sheep, sheep and llamas, (the latter two adapted by us to the amazonian climate), the farm has four hectares of pasture land and a stable. - There is an area for breeding chickens, ducks and other poultry, with fruit trees to provide shade and get fertilized by the poultry manure. - For fish, the farm has 12 different ponds (5 main ponds and 7 minor), situated amongst the cultivation zones and suitable for raising species such as cachama, sábalo, bocachico, red tilapia and silver tilapia. → Forest: We have left over half of the farm as Amazonian forest, to conserve its wealth of flora and fauna. We have also planted a variety of native timber trees as well as others we have introduced from other areas of the amazonian rain forest. → Water: The River Chakiska and 8 streams run through the land, 2 of which are bourn from natural springs within the land. We take the water for the houses, fish ponds and stables from these sources. → Biodiversity - Cultivated plants: We have been growing natural, organic and 100% GM free food, medicinal plants and timber trees on our farm for over 8 years, collecting and cultivating all the seeds, plants and trees that we have encountered. We have also worked on adapting species that are normally considered to be impossible to grow in tropical climates, and in many cases through our efforts and dedication we have managed to prove otherwise.
