The castle lies in the most northeast corner of Austria. The access road leads by an archway with a decorative hall in a narrow forecourt. By the hall one gets in the enormous honour court of the new castle. It opens to the east there. In the north it is limited by a long building tract which shows 14 window axes in on its exterior. From the court there are two halls that lead to the north wing along a ton-curved passage. The north wing has never fully been developed inside.
In the west the old castle connects to the honour court. In its east tract there is the 2-storey "knight's hall", a hall from 1633 whose beautiful stuccoed ceiling as well as the mural paintings have not been preserved. In a neighbouring area one can still recognize frescos. On the west side of the inner court there are 3-storey renaissance arcades are. The round arches rest on the ground floor on powerful pillars. On the first upper floor these are essentially slimer. The arcade ways are fitted out with cross vaults. In the southwest corner a renaissance hall makes possible the access to the former donjon. To the donjon joined northwards to the palaces, outside walls date back to the 13th Century. Under the castle lie extended two-storey cellars.
