Sta. Margalida is the county seat of Can Picafort and Son Serra de Marina.
Sta. Margalida is a typical mallorcan village with many picturesque and romantic streets.
It is far away from the tourism of the island.
The main night life happens in the market-place with its many bars / restaurants.
Here a market is held two days per week. This market has naturally nothing in common with the markets in the tourist areas. Here, local resident farmers sell fresh fruit, vegetables and fresh fish.
The market place is also home to the celebrations of the municipality. Everyone is welcome to these celebrations.
The traffic accessibility is very good. To the airports in Maria and Sineu it is only approx. 30 minutes.
Bus accessibility to the cities of Inca and Palma are very good, fast and reasonable.
The city of Inca has a big shopping center and a new big state hospital that opened in 2007.

In one of the neighboring municipalities there is a big modern private hospital as well.
To the well-known beach of Son Serra de Marina, it is only approx. 8 kilometers over a little driven highway.

The beach of Platja de Muro has natural sand dunes that are protected. Swimming is particularly beautiful and pleasant here. The beach slopes quite gently into the sea, i.e. one can wade very far into the ocean.
There is also a big Stone Pine forest which also a protected area.
Many beautiful footpaths go past the orange and almond plantations or around Saint Margalida. Here you also get the snow of Mallorca! One cannot describe this experience, and must honestly see and smell it for yourself.
