| Location:
The small fishing village, Lohme, between Glowe and Sassnitz, is directly on the north coast of the peninsula of Jasmund. The municipalities of Bisdamitz, Jägerhof, Salsitz, Schwierenz and Vietzke belong to Lohme.
The town-name comes from the Slavonic "Lomy" and means "wind break".
In the 18th century the romantics discovered this small fishing town. Caspar David Friedrich made numerous sketches of the surrounding landscape including the chalk coast, the high banks with the anemones flourishing in April, the dolmens and hill graves, the enormous erratic block rocks and the fantastic view of the sea all the way to Cape Arkona.
Today Lohme is a booming resort town which has retained its integrity, peace and nature. Numerous signposted footpaths invite you to explore the surroundings and to enjoy the nature.
The small dreamy yacht harbor is a great attraction for the town and just about evening it draws guests and inhabitants here to gaze in wonder at the famous " Lohmer sunset ".
