| This luxurious baroque castle has already accommodated personalities like Maria Theresia, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Napoleon Buonaparte, Arturo Toscanini and Maria Callas. It was mentioned for the first time in 1297. During the 18th century, during the Turkish wars, the castle was altered into a baroque country castle with drawbridge against intruders.
This unique castle consists of a main building (approx. 1000 m ² floor space) and annexes with 3 separate apartments, a guest's wing, a separate villa, a gardning house and caretaker's house. Garages for 6 cars exist and there is a Pavillion for parties, complete with bar and kitchen as well as a stable with room for 5 horses.
In the main building there is a delightful hall with an open fireplace. From the windows one can see the nearby Wallersee. There is also a library, a music room with a famous piano, a dining hall for 40 people and 30 bedrooms with subsequent bathrooms. All baths and WC's were constructed in style with the best materials and according to modern standards. In the main building there is also a modern elevator, a swimming-pool with sauna, a private theater, a chapel with an old organ that was restored some years ago, and a family vault. There are gilded stuccoed ceilings and also old, big wood doors with gilded ornaments that are in good condition for the most part.
The location of the castle is also unique! It is located in the middle of a lake area, only 20 minutes from the city of Salzburg. There is an 18 hole golf course, designed by the golf legend, Jack Nicklaus, which can be reached in just 10 minutes by car.
